The Fastest Cars of 2022
7. Hennessey Venom GT: 434 km/h (270 mph)
On Valentine's of 2014, John Hennessey of Hennessey Performance claimed that his dispute with Bugatti had ended (for the time being, at least). After years of competition, the American automaker's Venom GT set the World Record for Fastest Car on NASA's Kennedy Space Center's runway.
It took two years to engineer and develop the automobile. There were only 29 constructed, and the maker only sold them for around 1.2 million each.
The supercar is stunning in its own right, with flowing contours and a streamlined body. The Venom GT nearly looks feline, with its ultra-light carbon-fibre chassis, as if it's a black panther prepared to spring forward at any moment.
And jump it does: the Venom GT hit a then-unprecedented peak speed of 270mph (434 km/h). During its World Record testing, it attained a 0-100km/h or 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.05 seconds.
6. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+: 483 km/h (304 mph)
Naturally, Bugatti has a long history of producing expensive hypercars. The significantly improved quad-turbocharged W16 engine that drives the Chiron boosted the speed of this legendary speed and gave some brawn to the beauty – as a consequence, Bugatti now holds not one but two spots in our ranking of the fastest vehicles of 2022.
While it is no longer the absolute fastest vehicle on the market (we'll get to that coveted distinction in a moment! ), Bugatti's Chiron Super Sport 300+ has a claim to fame that will be documented in history books and amazing discussions for years to come: It was the first automobile to break the previously unheard-of barrier of 300 mph (or 483 km/h).
It is still a perfect mix of form and function, aerodynamics and beauty. This Bugatti boasts both speed and flair with a 0-100 kilometres per hour (0-60 mph) acceleration time of 2.4 seconds.
5. Hennessey Venom F5: 484 km/h (310 mph)
The F5 from John Hennessey's Venom brand is the next car in the range of Hennessey's record-breaking automobiles. The name refers to the fastest sort of tornado - a natural force that the Hennessey emulates with its enormous strength and extraordinary speeds.
An American-made twin-turbocharged engine powers the Venom F5; the result? Almost 2,000 horsepower. This provides the Venom F5 just what it needs to hit a peak speed of 484 km/h (301 mph). Its acceleration is also outstanding, with a 0-100km/h or 0-60mph time of less than two seconds.
Hennessey designed the F5 to break a world record company had previously set with the GT. It was more luxurious in terms of aesthetics, exclusivity, price, and speed. There were just 24 manufactured. The asking price was $1.6 million. What about the brilliant yellow carbon-fibre shell? Immediately recognisable.
4. Bugatti Bolide: 484+ km/h (310+ mph) – Approx
Bugatti went back to the drawing board following the triumph of the Chiron Super Sport. The forward-thinking, historic automaker needed to outdo itself, but how could it when the SuperSport 300+ was already, ostensibly, perfection on wheels?
What is the solution? Simple.
Enter the 8.0L W-16 engine. It has 1825 horsepower. Torque is a whopping 1364 lb-ft.
This vehicle is on the rise.
Bugatti's Bolide is a lightweight hypercar that exemplifies Bugatti's entire spectrum in terms of beauty, power, and invention. The Bolide will demonstrate to the world what the W-16 motor is capable of, using the same unique engine from the renowned Chiron series but with extra turbos to intensify the impact.
It's also light, futuristic (powder blue paint is sparsely applied to its exposed carbon-fibre structure), and small: the Bolide stands 39.2 inches tall. Its stated peak speed is 310mph (498 km/h), and it can go from 0-60mph (0-100km/h) in 2.17 seconds.
In other words, it's well worth the money.
3. Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut: 531 km/h (330 mph) – Approx
So far, it appears that the challenge to decide the fastest automobile of 2022 has largely been between two automakers: Bugatti and Hennessey. That makes perfect sense. They're both perfectly pedigreed houses that produce great vehicles that are just filled with sheer power.
But! That doesn't imply they're going to win the race.
The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut - a hypercar that ups the ante by an incredible twenty miles per hour. For a long time, if anyone asked what the fastest automobile in the world was, it had to be this one.
Swedish automaker Koenigsegg introduced this car to achieve a new world record. Consequently, they modified the engine from their other successful supercar, the Agera RS, which invested in more precise handling and made it lighter and more aerodynamic for maximum performance.
This automobile, though, isn't just about speed. There's also pleasure built-in, with the kind of temperature control, entertainment, and head/legroom that's usually neglected when it comes to the world's fastest automobiles.
The Jesko Absolut has a peak speed of 330mph (or 531km/h); the manufacturer has not disclosed acceleration data, but it's bound to be spectacular with that top speed.
2. SSC Tuatara: 533 km/h (331 mph)
What's quicker than 330mph, you may ask?
The solution is straightforward—331 mph.
SSC, located in North America, has created a stunning supercar that is just jam-packed with the latest and finest automotive advancements. Shelby SuperCars claimed in October 2020, on a seven-mile length of road in Nevada, their fastest supercar had attained an eye-watering speed of 331mph – or over 530km/h.
Unfortunately for those who envision themselves whizzing about their favourite cities at rapid speeds, this automobile isn't quite road-legal: It steers by using a camera system rather than mirrors.
With 1750 horsepower, a handcrafted, all-alloy, flat-plane-crank 5.9-litre twin-turbo V-8 engine, and a $1.9M price tag, the SSC Tuatara may not have needed a speed record to be unique. Of course, it's not a bad idea.
The SSC Tuatara accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour (0 to 60 miles per hour) in 2.5 seconds.
1. Devel Sixteen: 550km/h (347 mph)
We've arrived at the fastest automobile of 2022, an almost unheard-of level of power and speed from the Devel Sixteen — a car that wants to break all present records. The Devel Sixteen challenges the next speed standard: 350 miles per hour, with a reported peak speed of 347mph (or 550+km/h).
The Devel Sixteen, which debuted years ago, has data that have the automobile industry talking, perplexed. At the same time, we wait for production: It features a whopping 5,007 horsepower, an 81mm Quad Turbo 12.3L V16 engine, and a general 'inquire for pricing', interesting vibe that surrounds it at all times.
This is a car to keep an eye on in 2022, as what we know about it indicates that it will be the car to beat if its figures are confirmed.
